Replication of experiments is fundamental to the scientific method.
A research study has been done in an attempt to replicate key aspects of the 2009 Bentham Open Chemistry and Physics Journal paper on "Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe" by Niels H. Harrit, Jeffrey Farrer, Steven E. Jones Kevin R. Ryan, Frank M. Legge, Daniel Farnsworth, Gregg Roberts, James R. Gourley and Bradley R. Larsen.
Here are the results:

Analysis of Red/Gray Chips in WTC Dust
Background
Researcher Chris Mohr has taken the initiative and raised over $1000 for the expenses. He has made videos pointing out arguments that need to be firmly supported, in order for everyone to doubt the official story of 9/11. Chris has found a reasonably neutral and objective scientist to replicate the study on the WTC dust.
James R. Millette, Ph.D. (Univ. Cincinnati School of Engineering), executive director of
MVA Scientific Consultants,
Duluth, Ga., has received the ASTM International Award of Merit from Committee
D22 on Air Quality.
The Award of Merit is the highest society award granted to an individual ASTM
member for distinguished service and outstanding participation in committee
activities.

THANKS to all the donors who helped to quickly raise over $1000 to
perform more tests, and improve the quality of the study.

The study is now still in progress after an initial progress report (as of
March 2, 2012)
and a full report of the results may
be ready within months.

Update on Dust Particulate Analysis Fromthe World Trade Center Disaster

"The goal of this presentation is to provide an update 10 years later to the
forensic community on the microscopical analysis of dust particles from the
World Trade Center Disaster of September 11, 2001.This presentation will
impact the forensic science community by showing how forensic microscopical
studies display the differences between WTC dust and other dusts from other
sources in indoor environments thereby helping to provide the scientific
information necessary for judicial decisions.
[...]
With the exception of the elongated calcium/sulfur/silicon particles, all
the types of particles in the WTC dusts have been reported as associated
with normal dusts. At this time, no single particle type is accepted by the
scientific community as a signature particle for WTC dust."

Hi all,
Here are some things that came up in my most recent conversation with Dr. Jim
Millette, who is already well along in his study of the WTC dust:
1.) His intention is to replicate the tests done in the Bentham study. In
addition, he will employ environmental forensic science tests. The Bentham paper
does not report on having done a normal environmental forensic study of the
components so Dr. Millette will do that, plus everything they did, plus other
tests as needed. He has already looked at 40 particles, a few of which have have
the properties described in the Bentham paper, and he is confirming a match. He
used magnets to pull out the chips, both to follow Harrit et al's protocol and
to make it easy to separate out. He will be using transmission electromicroscopy
among other things.
2.) He will look for evidence not only of unignited thermitic materials but for unignited nanothermitic materials, using some of the same protocols as used in the Bentham paper.
3.) He will write up a protocol in more detail.
4.) He guesses we will have preliminary information around 15th February. The full report will take several months.
5.) He is looking for a laclede paint primer sample for Oystein. He may have something in his collection.
6.) He is also looking to see if anyone has documented all the red paints in WTC. Others he works with may know.
7.) Several times he said, "what do we have?" We can't have answers until we know what we have. Don't jump the gun; let me do my work and we'll see what I find, he was saying.
8.) He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and works with internationally know micrsocopy experts. These experts, as well as architects and engineers, are contributing their expertise to this study.
9.) The basis of science is to do research and have someone reproduce that research, which he will do with the Harrit paper. He will be following what Niels Harrit et al says he believes these chips have.
10.) His final report will definitely report carefully on the chain of custody.
11.) As I thought, the EPA report he coauthored regarding health hazards he found in the dust focused on the dangerous chemicals. He remembers seeing small spheres of iron (and reported on large quantities of iron) but the shape of the iron dust pieces was not the focus of the study. He understands that this is being treated as evidence of thermitics in the Bentham paper so he will deal with it in his report.
12.) In certain high-stakes court cases he has worked on, there has been videotaping of everything he has done. The cost of that is thousands of dollars, maybe tens of thousands. Anyone want to pay for this? He's willing but not unless all costs are covered in advance.
13.) Several people have said that if he discovers thermitic materials, he
will never admit to it because this would destroy his career. He said he is not
worried about that at all. He is an independent scientist, and "If I find it
I'll publish it." And if he finds no evidence for active thermitic material,
then he will conduct the necessary tests to determine what the red-gray chips
most likely are.
I have asked him everything people have asked me to ask, unless I forgot
something.

Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center
Catastrophe Abstract We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in all the samples we have studied of the dust produced by the destruction of the World Trade Center. Examination of four of these samples, collected from separate sites, is reported in this paper. These red/gray chips show marked similarities in all four samples. One sample was collected by a Manhattan resident about ten minutes after the collapse of the second WTC Tower, two the next day, and a fourth about a week later. The properties of these chips were analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The red material contains grains approximately 100 nm across which are largely iron oxide, while aluminum is contained in tiny plate-like structures. Separation of components using methyl ethyl ketone demonstrated that elemental aluminum is present. The iron oxide and aluminum are intimately mixed in the red material. When ignited in a DSC device the chips exhibit large but narrow exotherms occurring at approximately 430 °C, far below the normal ignition temperature for conventional thermite. Numerous iron-rich spheres are clearly observed in the residue following the ignition of these peculiar red/gray chips. The red portion of these chips is found to be an unreacted thermitic material and highly energetic. |

John-Michael Talboo's Response to Dr. Millette's Study |
Mark Basile Chemical Engineer, Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduate studied the World Trade Center dust and found thermitic material. He also added new experiments of his own. A paper about his experiments is planned, for submission to a journal. |

Assistance in preparing the paper for publication in a scientific journal, as a coach (but not co-author since the experiments have only been done by Mark) is offered by: David L. Griscom, PhD (Brown University, Physics) |
