Hunter S. Thompson  Murder
So called "Suicide"

Hunting Hunter's Killer(s)

The night before his death, Hunter told a friend:
"They're gonna make it look like suicide"
"I know how those bastards think."

Wouldn't such a loving husband and famous writer at least write a suicide note?

The Current Official Story (it changes)

The Truth

WikiPedia

Thompson died at his self-described "fortified compound" known as "Owl Farm" in Woody Creek, Colorado, at 5:42 p.m. on February 20, 2005, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Thompson's son (Juan), daughter-in-law (Jennifer Winkel Thompson) and grandson (Will Thompson) were visiting for the weekend at the time of his suicide. Will and Jennifer were in the adjacent room when they heard the gunshot. Mistaking the shot for the sound of a book falling, they continued with their activities for a few minutes before checking on him. The police report concerning his death stated that in a typewriter in front of Thompson, they found "a piece of paper carrying the date 'Feb 22 '05' and the single word 'counselor'."[30]

They reported to the press that they do not believe his suicide was out of desperation, but was a well-thought out act resulting from Thompson's many painful and chronic medical conditions. Thompson's wife, Anita, who was at a gym at the time of her husband's death, was on the phone with him when he ended his life.

What family and police describe as a suicide note was written by Thompson four days before his death, and left for his wife. It was later published by Rolling Stone. Titled "Football Season Is Over", it read:

"No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun — for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax — This won't hurt."[31]
Artist and friend Ralph Steadman wrote:

"...He told me 25 years ago that he would feel real trapped if he didn't know that he could commit suicide at any moment. I don't know if that is brave or stupid or what, but it was inevitable. I think that the truth of what rings through all his writing is that he meant what he said. If that is entertainment to you, well, that's OK. If you think that it enlightened you, well, that's even better. If you wonder if he's gone to Heaven or Hell, rest assured he will check out them both, find out which one Richard Milhous Nixon went to — and go there. He could never stand being bored. But there must be Football too — and Peacocks..."[32]

Was Hunter S. Thompson suicided?

Paul William Roberts of the Toronto Globe & Mail is another journalist, and a friend of Hunter's, who also questions the official story of 9/11.

Here you can hear him speak with Alex Jones on the final days of Hunter S. Thompson.
http://dl.prisonplanet.tv/members/audio/090305thompson.htm

Roberts wrote a story for The Globe & Mail up in Canada where he talked about Hunter S. Thompson before he died mysteriously a few weeks ago, saying he believed the government may have been involved in 9/11, and he was concerned.

"Hunter telephoned me on Feb. 19, the night before his death. He sounded scared. It wasn't always easy to understand what he said, particularly over the phone, he mumbled, yet when there was something he really wanted you to understand, you did. He'd been working on a story about the World Trade Center attacks and had stumbled across what he felt was hard evidence showing the towers had been brought down not by the airplanes that flew into them but by explosive charges set off in their foundations. Now he thought someone was out to stop him publishing it: "They're gonna make it look like suicide," he said. "I know how these bastards think . . ."

Paul William Roberts, Columnist, Toronto Globe and Mail
Thompson was working on two sensitive stories,
one about bombs being the cause of the twin towers' collapse,
and the other about a White House reporter using a false name.

Hunter's note was cited in the Washington Post as writing "Football Season Is Over"
"No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun -- for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax -- This won't hurt."

But it was written 4 days before his death, "according to family and police."
The Washington Post omits this, wrongfully implying it was a note on the spot
at the scene of the suicide/murder.

If the family knew 4 days before, that Hunter was suicidal,
would they not talk try to talk him out of it, or call a counselor?
Nothing like this is reported as having happened. Suspicious indeed.

It begs the questions:
Why wouldn't Hunter bring out the suicide note and put it on his desk?
Why wouldn't he say these chosen words to his wife Anita on the phone?
Why did Anita not hear a gun shot? (and no silencer found on the scene)
Why did Hunter talk about working on an article when Anita returned?
Since it was a typed note, do we really know if he wrote these words?

67 is not so old. He was an active writer for ESPN.
He had been on Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Charlie Rose and quite active.

http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Hunter_S._Thompson_obituary_spawns_%22murder%22_theory

Two years ago in January 2003, Thompson actually did give an interview on KDNK radio (Colorado) where he made a suggestion that he may be murdered to shut him up.
"Bush is really the evil one here and it is more than just him. We are the Nazis in this game and I don't like it. I am embarrassed and I am pissed off. I mean to say something. I think a lot of people in this country agree with me...we'll see what happens to me if I get my head cut off next week -- it is always unknown or bushy-haired strangers who commit suicide right afterwards with no witnesses," the writer said.

More confusion has arisen after a quote from one of the police officers investigating the death scene. Deputy Ron Ryan said there was a spent shell casing, but there was no cartridge in the firing chamber, as there should have been under normal circumstances. Sheriff's officer DiSalvo confirmed this opinion; "I think a bullet from the magazine should have cycled into the chamber". This "single bullet" problem has led to speculation that Thompson was coerced into self-inflicting a gunshot wound, being given a gun with a single shot, perhaps accompanied by threats against his family.

Hunter ran for Sheriff of Aspen Colorado in 1970.

Characteristics of a Staged Suicide

This case has all the characteristics of a staged "suicide."
* No witnesses.
* No specific suicide note on the spot of the death.
"Football season is over" is not sufficient.  I just means it is time Baseball.
* Telling his Canadian friend he fears he will be "suicided"
* He made enemies with powerful, ruthless people
* He was on good relations with his wife, Anita, a cute young blonde, with no problems, and did not even say good bye?
* He was in the midst of projects he felt passionate about
For example: 9/11, White House "reporter" Jeff Gannon scandal, ESPN
* He was in good financial shape, no problems
* The last word he typed was "counselor", indicating he was in the middle of writing
* Broken leg, but still relatively healthy, with no terminal illness
At least not serious enough to kill himself

"Crazy old Hunter" got a lot of attention, and has quite a following.

Why is the Official Story Nonsense?

>(Hunter) he left his wife a note titled "Football Season is Over,"
Yes I know, but the family and police believe it was written 4 days earlier, and was not on his desk when he committed suicide. The note was typed with only the words above written in his hand (apparently). The police found it suspicious that the gun had no shell in the chamber.

He was talking to his wife and did not even say "Excuse me dear, I know we talked about working on an article together tonight, but can't wait for you to get home, and am going to shoot myself right now, with a silencer that will magically disappear. You'll find my suicide note in my papers somewhere. Love you. Bye."

Theory that has to be Investigated

Sure, his children did not see a man with a gun knock at the front door and come through the house, and say "Excuse me, where's Hunter?" Nobody argues that.

A highly trained assassin, who drills on this every day, could come in through the window, like a Ninja, wearing a dark outfit and gloves, silently creep up on this 67 year old man, (who was relatively weak and hard of hearing), put him in a choke hold, force a gun in to his mouth so that his his fingerprints on it, and fire. Then he would make his escape out the window, as his wife Anita is still on the phone saying "Hello? Hello? Hunter? Are you there?" His children just thought they heard a book drop.

At least there should be a thorough murder investigation of this possibility, not only by the Aspen police, but the FBI.

Official Story Changes
Which is the truth, and which is the lie?

This account says Thompson killed himself while sitting in a chair on his typewriter and yet the original account tells us that Thompson shot himself while talking to his wife on the phone in the kitchen. Why has the story changed and what is the significance of the word "Counselor" typed on the paper in light of the fact that Thompson said he would be 'suicided' before being able to release a major story on explosives bringing down the twin towers?

Wife Recounts Hearing Gun Over Phone As Thompson Killed Self

(CBS/AP)  Anita Thompson still slips into the present tense when she talks about her marriage to the legendary writer Hunter S. Thompson, and how her life plunged into a nightmare when he committed suicide last weekend, turning a gun on himself like his idol, Ernest Hemmingway.

"He says he has a perfect life now, he loves me very much, he's writing well," she said in an interview with The Associated Press on Friday.

Thompson, best known for wildly original books like "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," began saying that suicide wasn't a dishonorable thing a few months before he shot himself in the head, his wife said.

"He feels at the peak of his life right now, has a very successful career, has a network of perfect friends," she said. "If he quit now, he would feel he was a champion."

Anita Thompson said that although she had not thought he would take his life so soon, she had argued furiously against suicide.

"I threatened him, 'I'm out of here,' I wouldn't mourn, I would hate him," she said. "That's my biggest regret. I'm so sorry, Hunter. Yeah, that's my biggest regret."

Days after losing her husband, Anita Thompson talks calmly, if sometimes tearfully, about the moment he swept her off her feet, the brilliance she saw in his writing, her plans to keep alive his legacy and the love letters he wrote her that help ease the pangs of grief and regret.

When a mutual friend introduced them about five years ago, "I got butterflies," she said. Soon they were spending hours together, compiling his letters into a book.

"It was wonderful, just so wonderful. I fell in love with him right away." Despite his cultivated image as a drug-driven wild man who invented "gonzo journalism," she saw something else: "This man is not a crazy gonzo freak, this man is a serious man of letters, a Southern gentleman."

Hunter Thompson, 67, and his 32-year-old wife lived together at Thompson's home in the hamlet of Woody Creek near Aspen for three years and married April 24, 2003.

On Sunday, they talked on the phone when she was at a health club and he was at home. He asked her to come help him on his writing. He set the phone on the tabletop, still on, and she heard clicks that sounded like he had started typing.

She tells the Associated Press it was a gesture of love, because he could usually warm any chill between them that way: "All he'd have to do was start writing, and I would start melting at the knees."

Now she thinks the clicking noise was her husband loading and cocking the .45-caliber handgun he used to take his life. She said she didn't hear a gunshot before she hung up.

However, she earlier told the Aspen Daily News a slightly different version of the story.

"I was on the phone with him, he set the receiver down and he did it. I heard the clicking of the gun," she said. Thompson said she heard a loud, muffled noise, but didn't know what had happened. "I was waiting for him to get back on the phone," she told the newspaper.

In the first hours after his death, when she rushed back to Woody Creek, she felt horror and then anger, she told the Associated Press. "When I saw his body, that took a lot of the anger away," she said.

Now she is working with friends and family on celebrations of Thompson's life and moving ahead with previously launched plans for the Hunter S. Thompson Foundation, dedicated to helping people in the prison system "who don't belong there."

She is also rereading the stacks of love letters he sent her. The last one came in early March, when she had fled to her parents' home in Fort Collins. "He did something rude, which is really common for Hunter, and I needed an apology letter," she said.

She read the last line, a paraphrase of "Carmelita," a song by one of his favorite artists, Warren Zevon:

"I feel calm, sleepy, Carmelita. Hold me, Carmelita. LOCVE" — then he respelled the word, without bothering to remove the misspelling — "LOVE soon come HST."

He signed the letter and drew a tiny heart.

"Hunter, thank you very much for leaving me all these letters," Anita Thompson said. "I'm so lucky that way."

Associated Press | March 2 2005

ASPEN, Colo. -- Hunter S. Thompson's body was found in a chair in the kitchen in front of his typewriter with the word "counselor" typed in the center of the page, according to sheriff's reports.

The word was typed on stationery from the Fourth Amendment Foundation, which was started to defend victims of unwarranted search and seizure, according to reports released Tuesday.

It was not immediately known what, if any, significance the word had to the founder of "gonzo" journalism or to his family.

Juan Thompson found his father dead Feb. 20 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. After reporting the death, Juan Thompson walked outside the Woody Creek home and fired three shotgun blasts into the air.

"Juan told me he had shot a shotgun into the air to mark the passing of his father," Pitkin County Deputy Sheriff John Armstrong said in his report.

Juan Thompson was allowed to go into the kitchen alone to drape a golden orange scarf over his father's shoulders, according to Armstrong. Jennifer Winkel Thompson, Juan Thompson's wife, said the family had purchased the silk scarf in Florence, Italy, and gave it to Hunter Thompson the night before.

The couple and their 6-year-old son were in the house when Thompson, 67, took a handgun, put it to his mouth and fired.

A soft-sided gun case was found at Thompson's feet along with a spent shell casing, according to reports.

The family has canceled plans for a public gathering in favor of a private service. A public event will be held at a later date. Plans also are in the works to blast Thompson's ashes from a cannon, which was one of the author's wishes.

Hunter Thompson was working on WTC collapse story before mysterious sudden death, warned he'd be 'suicided'

Total 9/11 Info/Prison Planet | March 2 2005

Toronto Globe and Mail February 26, 2005:

Hunter telephoned me on Feb. "I know how these bastards think . . ."

Hunter S. Thompson ... was indeed working on such a story.

Now check out this February 25 Associated Press story about Thompson's death. Sounds a lot like a professional hit with a silencer:

"I was on the phone with him, he set the receiver down and he did it. I heard the clicking of the gun," Anita Thompson told the Aspen Daily News in Friday's editions.

She said her husband had asked her to come home from a health club so they could work on his weekly ESPN column...

Thompson said she heard a loud, muffled noise, but didn't know what had happened. "I was waiting for him to get back on the phone," she said.

(Her account to Rocky Mountain News reporter Jeff Kass is slightly different: "I did not hear any bang," she told Kass. She added that Thompson's son, who was in the house at the time, believed that a book had fallen when he heard the shot, according to Kass' report.)

Mack White sums up the questions well:
Thompson's family says he was not depressed, nor was he in enough to pain to kill himself. In fact, by all reports, he was quite happy. He was talking on the phone to his wife, getting ready to work on his column, when he decided it would be wise to kill himself, so that he could go out (we are told) while "still at the top of his form," even though this would mean not finishing his column or his expose on 9/11 (potentially the most important thing he would ever write) (?)...
