A prominent conspiracy theorist has recently been chasing me
to do a public debate on various topics, and somehow tracked
down my home address. This is my explanation to him for why I
refuse to debate him, even though I love doing public debates
in general.
Hi XXXX, I got your stuff in the mail yesterday. Not sure how
you got my home address.
I’d like to reiterate that I am not interested in debating you
on any of your pet topics. I admit that these topics are
interesting to me, but I do not believe it would be fruitful
to debate things like your claims of Hillary Clinton having
murdered dozens of people personally, nor your 9/11 conspiracy
theories, etc.

Only four of Trump’s 44 former Cabinet officials will endorse him. The rest
are refusing to, many saying they consider him an existential threat to
American democracy. And today, his own Vice President, Mike Pence, announced
that is also refusing to endorse Trump. Wake up, sheeple!
If Republican Vice President Dick Cheney is saying this, that’s really
something:
“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual
who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump." — Former VP
Dick Cheney
D.J. Grothe Dick Cheney and his
daughter Liz are not supported by most Republicans. He is a RINO. Liz lost
re-election by an embarrassing margin because she does not stand for
Republican values: peace, prosperity, honesty.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/08/17/liz-cheney-historic-defeat/
D.J. Grothe
Fred Shaddock Yep,
she was punished by the cult of MAGA despite being very conservative. But
that’s changing the subject again.
Fred Shaddock
D.J. Grothe Cheney is "all hat, no cattle" and works for the Deep State,
permanent US Government employees enjoying mansions around DC, and generous
benefits, which he considers to be the Republic. But the Republic consists
of US citizen tax payers, the real bosses. |
D.J. Grothe I was a US Government contractor for many years, and know many
permanent USG employees enjoying mansions around DC who are afraid they will
lose their cushy jobs with generous benefits, wasting millions of tax payer
dollars, doing projects at a ridiculously slow pace, once Trump becomes
President. I could have stayed with the Deep State.
D.J. Grothe
Fred Shaddock what you were describing now is not the
deep state. It’s far more mundane: people who have homes and jobs who
want to keep their homes and jobs. That’s very dim of you.
The deep state conspiracy theory says that there is a cabal of
people deep in the government with a secret nefarious agenda, deceiving
the American public and media about it, and even many elected officials
about it, and that they are conspiring privately behind the scenes to
carry it out. Most versions of the deep state conspiracy theory have to
do with the deep state conspiring to oppose Trump’s supposed utopian
vision, and the like.
The deep state conspiracy theory does not include the trivial fact that
there are longtime government employees who don’t wanna lose their jobs
or homes.
D.J. Grothe What do you
think about the 51 "intelligence officers" claiming that Hunter Biden's
laptop was "Russian disinformation"? It included emails about "10% for
the big guy" (Biden and his aliases).
Should they lose their (job)
security clearances? TS clearance helps to get jobs, especially in DC.
It's like a club.

D.J. Grothe The topic of

servants" lied to us tax payers who pay for their mansions and pensions.

David Michael Rich
Fred Shaddock Firstly, his attendance at military
school was remedial for bad behavior, not an achievement. Secondly, it
appears his “achievement” at Wharton was to graduate at the bottom of
his class. Thirdly, even if one were to strip away all the exaggeration
and lies about his real estate career, and even the fact of his
successful first run for the presidency, and acknowledge what would
legitimately remain as his accomplishments, Trump would never be
anyone to respect or celebrate by my yardstick for he is an utter and
colossal failure at the single most valuable and noble quest in life,
and that is to be a person of good character. To be blinded by
bullshit or money is to live a truly and tragically impoverished life.

Trump promised he’d bring manufacturing back to the U.S., but never did. But
Biden did.
Fred Shaddock
Money printing from nothing by the Federal Reserve makes prices go up
without a corresponding increase in value - on everything from apples
to APPL stock.
George Brundage
Supply chain disruptions during COVID, btw, is why (and has nothing to
do with Biden):
"American manufacturers are increasingly bringing production back to
the US to reduce their reliance on global supply chains that proved
vulnerable to disruption such as the pandemic.
An overwhelming majority of American companies with production
operations in China have already moved some back to the US or plan to
do so in the next three years, according to Kearney's 2021 Reshoring
Index.
Almost four in five corporations companies have already shifted
production to the US and at least 15% are considering it due to high
tariffs and ongoing supply chain challenges, Kearney's report shows."
D.J. Grothe
George Brundage it has everything to do with Biden.
It’s about billions of dollars in investments in on-shoring
manufacturing resulting from things like Biden’s combo of various
legislative, policy, and executive actions. Things like the
Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which indirectly supports
manufacturing through improved logistics, transportation, and utility
systems; the Inflation Reduction Act, which has billions of dollars of
investments in clean energy and manufacturing, boosting domestic
production of key components in the clean energy transition, such as
batteries and solar panels; the CHIPS act, focusing on revitalizing
the American semiconductor industry by providing billions in matching
funds for chip manufacturing based in the U.S., etc; and through
various executive orders aimed at strengthening American
manufacturing, including increasing federal purchasing of
American-made goods and nudging supply chains for critical goods to
reduce dependency on countries like China. He’s also enacted higher
labor and environmental standards in American manufacturing, which
actually create more sustainable high-quality jobs. Etc

Between 1880 and 1924, some 25 million immigrants arrived in America,
mostly from Italy and the Russian Empire. It created a serious
anti-immigrant backlash, but without them, America could never have
become an industrial superpower — these immigrants provided a seemingly
infinite supply of cheap and ambitious labor for America’s factories,
and literally built our infrastructure and cities. Since 1965, some 35
million more immigrants have arrived, and their labor has continued to
build this country.
In very recent years, contrary to the scare-mongering headlines, refugee
immigration is minuscule statistically speaking, legal immigration is
less than a million per year, and illegal immigration is statistically
*nonexistent* (immigrants seeking asylum are not illegal immigrants).
Despite the Know Nothing lunatic rhetoric of Donald Trump and the
Republican Party, there are fewer illegal immigrants here now than there
were at the end of the Great Recession in 2009.
And because of recent labor shortages due to unsound anti-immigration
policies, some crops have gone unharvested, and prices for consumers
have gone up (labor shortages are a cause of inflation).
The 2 million new immigrants over the last five years is a very good
thing for us: without them and their contributions to the American
economy, we would all be much worse off. They are one of the reasons the
U.S. has had the strongest recovery out of the COVID pandemic of any of
the G7 nations.
Consider that the home healthcare field is almost entirely immigrant
staffed. As are many other industries and sectors of our economy. And
many small towns are being kept alive solely because of immigrants
moving into them and providing most of the economic activity. (Small
town America has a severely shrinking population; their cultural and
economic energy comes from immigrants who do most of the labor,
agricultural and otherwise, and without them they would become ghost
towns.)
Immigration is a moral and economic good.

I grew up Lutheran, but I was good pals with this kid who was some
strain of fundy, Pentecostal I think. One day we were shopping for a
gift for a friend of ours. I casually suggested an Ouija board. His
demeanor changed and he got quite serious, and advised me that that was
a sort of Demonic thing.
Later I became quite enamored of Houdini. One day I was over at my
fundie friends place and his mother suggested quite seriously to me that
Houdini may have accomplished his escapes because he was in league with
the Devil. That point was a starting point of deconversion to me, as I
realized immediately that it was pure bullshit. So I knew that at least
~some~ religious ideas were utter nonsense, and how many I realized were
nonsense grew over time until complete deconversion.
